Raining Cats and Dogs!

Although I've always heard the expression It's Raining Cats and Dogs...I never dreamed I'd experience it first hand...but as Bertha says...never say never!

Here's what happened...the cat...went out on Saturday. Now that is not an unusual occurrence...she does it several times a day...and basically she just sits there, glaring...and daring the neighborhood peasant cats to come near her kingdom...hence her unofficial title...Porch Princess...

Anyway...she had no more than taken the throne when the bottom fell out...which in the South means...it started to RAIN...again...no biggie...the porch is covered so she was high and dry...

And we in the house were causally chatting...when out on the porch...there arose such a clatter...Bertha and I jumped to the door...to see what was the matter...

And the matter was...a Labrador retriever...obviously no respecter of royalty...making a mad dash for her highness...who wasted no time diving into the rain...as did the dog...

Bertha and I barely had time to gasp and look at each other before the racing duo made their second lap around the house...hence the Raining Cats and Dogs...

While Bertha stood guard on the porch...I ran through the house...let the cat in the back door...and that was the last we saw of the Lab...

The cat was soaking wet but fine...nothing injured other than her snootiness...she hid under the bed for most of the day...then sulked around the house...and now...a week later...she won't go back outside for love nor money...not that I've offered  her any...money that is!

Anyway...Bertha has had a good laugh about it...teasing the cat that even the kittens across the street are out playing...then she reminded her of all the times she's been outside without incident...but the cat hasn't budged...

Bertha says it reminds her a lot of people in general...which usually means...ME...that we tend to focus on the few bad things that have happened in our lives...those things we call failures...and that we let them keep us from...putting ourselves back out there...whether it's a relationship...a job...or even a book proposal rejection...

Hmmm...she may just be on to something...I can think of a few times in my life that I let failure hold me back...but wait...the cat is at the door...ready to go back out there...there may be hope for all of us!

How about you? What's holding you back? Bertha and I would love to hear from you. In fact, if you'd like Bertha's help getting back on the porch...I promise she won't tease you about the kittens...that was rather insensitive...anyway...we have one-on-one coaching packages and our delightful group package...Bertha's Pajama Party...drop us an e-mail to info@berthasize.com for more information.

Have a great week...and let's all get out more!

Who would you get if you crossed Lucy with a popular talk show host?  Why Bertha, of course!  A zany redhead, who is always up to something and drags her sidekick along with her while she's dispensing down-home wisdom and perky advice for finding balance and joy in one's life.  Throw in a conniving nemesis, an antagonistic cat, lime green spandex and high-heels and you've got a book that's sure to tickle your funny bone and leave you wearing your thinking cap as you read and reread each vignette.
