Don't Let Your Hopes Down!

Are you like me? There's something that you really want, like that great job you just interviewed for or a date with that hunk you just met or even a commitment in the relationship you're in BUT you're afraid to get your hopes up because you might be disappointed.
I know, it's so easy to feel that way. So anyway, I was feeling that way this week. I had set my intention to reach a certain monthly income. Later, when I told Bertha about my financial goal I added the dreadful words, "But I don't want to get my hopes up because I might be disappointed..."
Bertha jumped on her soapbox quicker than the cat skedaddles when I mention flea treatment. You know she's big into Law of Attraction...what you focus on is what you get...and she brought up a good point. Bertha said that not getting your hopes up...essentially focusing on not being able to get what you want...is the fastest way to not get it.
You know, it made perfect sense when she put it that way! I thought back over the years when some well meaning friend or family member would chide me not to get my hopes up...and I didn't. And you guessed it! At least 90% of those things never happened and then I'd think, "Well, I'm glad I didn't get my hopes up..."
So now...I'm taking Bertha's advice, "Don't Let Your Hopes Down!" I really like her take on that. I'm already thinking what I'm going to do with the extra income...maybe I'll take the cat for a special treat...but we won't tell her about it yet...wouldn't want her to get her hopes up...or would we?!
Who would you get if you crossed Lucy with a popular talk show host? Why Bertha, of course!A zany redhead, who is always up to something and drags her sidekick along with her while she's dispensing down-home wisdom and perky advice for finding balance and joy in one's life.Throw in a conniving nemesis, an antagonistic cat, lime green spandex and high-heels and you've got a book that's sure to tickle your funny bone and leave you wearing your thinking cap as you read and reread each vignette.
