Ethical Dilemma

I'm feeling a bit unsettled. Today I happened upon a derogatory blog regarding a friend and business acquaintance of mine. I spent most of the afternoon...time that I really didn't have...reading and re-reading the blog and the posted comments...trying to decide how to respond. Should I tell my friend, even though I knew how much it would hurt her? Should I try to defend her, even though I could see why the comments were made? What should I do?
Bertha came through while I was in the midst of the dilemma. I welcomed the opportunity to discuss my feelings and work out my actions. In the end, I e-mailed my friend the link so that she could check it out herself. The comments were made based upon assumptions drawn from reviewing her website...there were some obvious oversights on her part that gave a false impression. Bertha said she could only correct those things if she knew about them. Of course, she was right.
Although I know I made the right decision, I still feel sad. I feel sad that my friend is being seen in an unfavorable light. I feel sad because I know she worked hard on the copy for her website and that it was an oversight...not a deception on her part. Usually, I feel better when I write about this kind of thing...tonight I don't.
It's never easy telling a friend an unpleasant truth...at least not for me...how about you? Have you had a similar experience?

Who would you get if you crossed Lucy with a popular talk show host? Why Bertha, of course! A zany redhead, who is always up to something and drags her sidekick along with her while she's dispensing down-home wisdom and perky advice for finding balance and joy in one's life. Throw in a conniving nemesis, an antagonistic cat, lime green spandex and high-heels and you've got a book that's sure to tickle your funny bone and leave you wearing your thinking cap as you read and reread each vignette.
